Our goal is to create personalized, world-class portrait art that is so important and meaningful to everyone in your family that you can’t imagine the thought of ever taking it off the wall. The Consultation is our first opportunity dream about the possibilities for your custom portrait and begin planning. We begin, therefore, with the end in mind. Please take time to walk through your home and consider:
Where in your home should the defining portrait of our loved ones live?
Many clients install their portrait on a primary wall above the mantle, the entry way, the formal dining or in a sitting room. Some of our portraits live along stairways, in offices, libraries or on adjacent yet prominent walls. Sometimes, the need is simply to fill a smaller, transitional space. We suggest you bring pictures of rooms and potential walls to the Consultation. This allows us to better collaborate in the decision making process.
The display location becomes basis for most other design decisions. For example, a more formal space will demand a more formal style, setting and attire. A portrait destined for a casual space may have a more casual feel. With this in mind, the choice of color tones, attire and any included heirloom items such as jewelry or even furniture pieces becomes easier to discover.
We encourage you to begin thinking about style and setting. Please visit our online gallery, jridout.com/gallery where you will be inspired by examples of previous works and get a feel for the style that best suits you and your family.
The Consultation is the most important meeting we will have. We will endeavor to make as many design decisions about your portrait as possible.
Because some decisions can affect the budget and may require an advance monetary commitment, we strongly recommend that all decision-makers attend this appointment. Towards the end of the Consultation, we will set a date for your Sitting.
